March is here....... yup 2 months to go and we will decide who will lead our children for a better future. Up to this moment, I'm still not decided who will I vote this coming 2010 election. As much as I want to know everything about all the candidates for Presidency, I still can't decide who can I entrust my children's future. As a matter of fact, I'm beginning to think..... is there a one worth taking the said position? All the candidates are promising this and that, will they be able to truly fulfill their promise once seated? What assurance does each of these candidates will give us once they get elected?
I am fearful not only for my children but for the whole Filipino community. Poverty is not the number one problem our country is facing today. Poverty is the effect of the one problem that our country can't or won't control.... and that problem is CORRUPTION! This topic was discussed during the Homily when we attended last Sunday's mass . I was shocked when the priest said that last year, about 170 Billion pesos of the budget of the Phils. went to corruption.I don't know where he got that figure but think of all the schools, hospitals and other public amenities and constitutions that might have been constructed if that kind of money were not corrupted. Truly, we are one of the most corrupt country not only in Asia but in the whole world.
As a mother and a Filipino community, I can't help think about what will become of our country and the future of our children if we choose poorly this coming election. So really, I am still confused...... I am still praying that the Lord will guide us all on choosing the right person for the job and that the coming election will be peaceful.
